Nutrients You Need To Eat
Water is not often thought of as a nutrient. As our bodies are 98% fluid, a regular supply of clean water is needed. Without water, we would become dehydrated and eventually die. All of our body’s functions, from cell repair and development to the regulation of our heart beat depend on us consuming the appropriate amount of water each day. In addition to drinking water, water is also found in a lot of foods that we normally eat.
Another nutrient you need to eat is protein. Proteins help us grow hair, nails, build muscle tissue and red blood cells. Without proper levels of protein, these areas may discolor or die altogether. Our bodies also need a certain amount of fat and carbohydrates every day. These nutrients provide us the energy to get through the day, even if it is just doing normal things. Fats are used during more intense activities like working out, but carbohydrates are used throughout the day as we sit, stand, walk, drive, etc. Eating healthy will ensure that you are consuming the appropriate amounts of nutrients you need to eat without eating more than your body needs or will use.
Vitamins and minerals are also important nutrients you need to eat. We get most of these naturally from the foods we eat during the day. Almost any natural food source contains at least some vitamins and minerals. If you find you are not getting enough, try supplementing your diet with a multivitamin.
A healthy diet should naturally provide the nutrients you need to eat every day. Taking a multivitamin as prescribed will help our bodies get the level of nutrients it needs to operate its best. Talk to your doctor about any vitamin or mineral deficiencies you are concerned about. He or she should be able to provide you a few different options to eliminating this deficiency. Who knows – your favorite food could contain just the nutrient you need!
